Nederlands Instituut Publieke Veiligheid (NIPV) & national fire service specializations
NIPV stands for Netherlands Institute of Public Safety. We are the public knowledge institute for crisis management and firefighting. We strengthen safety regions, the national government, and other crisis partners with research, education, information, and support. This is how we make the Netherlands safer and more resilient.
For a safe and resilient country
Our more than 300 professionals, each from their own area of expertise, understand the needs of our field. High-quality and reliable service is our standard. Safety regions and other crisis partners must be able to rely on current and relevant knowledge, information, and support in all phases of incidents and crises. We experience this sense of urgency daily through our drive, fueled by colleagues with a background as first responders.
Our 4 core tasks:
- Research
- Education
- Information
- Support
National fire service specializations
An incident doesn't respect regional or national borders. Sometimes incidents are so complex or large that specialized knowledge and equipment are required. In such cases, it's essential for the fire service to join forces and collaborate. The NIPV supports national fire service specialties by developing and connecting expertise, systems, people, and resources. For a safe and resilient Netherlands.
These are the national fire service specialties:
- Hazardous Goods Incident Response
- Digital Exploration Team
- Technical Emergency Response Specialty
- Wildfire Management
- Logistics & Support
- Ship Incident Response
- Operational Information Provision
